Oh, Lord Jesus it's a Welker

If there's one thing the Elway era has taught Broncos fans it's to expect the unexpected.

Like Peyton Manning was one year ago, Wes Welker in orange and blue was considered a pipe dream - until now.

ESPNs Adam Schefter is reporting that the Broncos are in "serious talks" with the Pats wide out about making the move from Bradyville to Manning Country.

Oh, Lord.

Could the Broncos be close to making the biggest acquisition of the off season AGAIN!?

Stay tuned and tell Dmac to keep the engine running.

Why boo Carmelo? Why the hell not?

"Sports are fiction and fantasy, emotion and illogic. It’s our story. Our response to sports is supposed to be visceral and hardly thought out. It’s a realm not meant for reason. We love sports and we are guided by our passions. It’s simple. And there’s nothing wrong with that."

Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, who was told by the Jaguars that he was too fat, was drafted for the Jags by Broncos DC Jack Del Rio in 2009. He is reportedly on his way to Denver to meet with his old ball coach and discuss becoming a Bronco.

The 336 pound Knighton made headlines a year ago after reportedly threatening to "shoot people" outside a Florida night club.

It goes without saying that the big fellow would bring some size to the Broncos D line.

The Broncos have signed free agent guard Louis Vasquez to a four-year, 23.5M deal.

It's their only confirmed move thus far in NFL free agency and it comes at the expense of a division rival. Phil Rivers' loss is Peyton Manning's gain.

He's 25 years old, played his college ball at Texas Tech and was selected by San Diego in the third round of the 2009 draft.

Vasquez provides some insurance for the oft-injured Chris Kuper .

"There’s nothing more potent in sports than the idea that “nobody believes in us”. Did a prickly columnist at the Denver Post feed George Karl’s resolve by questioning his work ethic?"

For the second straight year ESPN Insider has ranked all 30 MLB teams in order of their future power rankings over the next five seasons.

The rankings consider the current major league lineups, the farm systems, quality of management and financial flexibility of various franchises and how those particulars will affect their competitiveness not only for the coming season but for the next several seasons.

If the rankings are correct, the Colorado Rockies, who score 16.2 on a scale of 1 to 100, are doomed to be terrible for a long time to come. They ranked dead last in ESPN's future rankings.

In other words, get used to watching a bad team.

"Nalen’s tone is easy. He’s naturally funny and his voice smiles through the radio. He seems to enjoy being in the studio. I detect that Shapiro is enjoying himself more on air, too, as a result of working with Nalen, even if the ex-pro does make him uncomfortable sometimes with his boyish sense of humor."

Video: George Karl loses his sh*t

In case you missed it like I did, here's the video of GK being as pissed as anybody has ever seen him.

Wilson Chandler was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Karl tosses him aside like a rag doll.

The Denver Broncos Quarterback Club is a booster organization formed in 1964 under the direction of Lou Saban. The groups primary purpose is to: “distribute Home Game tickets to children from disadvantaged situations so that they may experience the joy of seeing the Broncos in action. It also serves as a place for fellow Broncomaniacs to share their enthusiasm and support of the team, to meet players and coaches and generally have a great time while doing some good in the community.”

Members of the club get to meet every Broncos head coach in person. Various members of the Broncos organization speak to the club on an annual basis.

Membership is surprisingly affordable and is open to everybody. A membership application form can be found right here. The cost is $50 for a “Pro Bowl” membership and $100 for a “Hall of Fame” membership. Meetings are held monthly.

On Monday, March 11 Cecil Lammey, the guru from FootballGuys.com and ESPN Broncos insider will be speaking to the group.

Lammey, who recently returned from the NFL combine, will delve into Broncos draft prospects and discuss prospective targets in free agency. For Broncomaniacs wishing to be a step or two ahead of the media will want to be there. Nobody in town has Lammey’s depth of knowledge where the draft is concerned.

Only members may attend. There should be time to purchase a membership on Monday prior to Lammey’s speech, which will be given at Red and Jerry’s on Santa Fe on Monday evening.
