As the NFL enters its final week of the regular season, our Annual NFL Pickoff VS the Spread is becoming intense. Our Buddy Snyder, who has held the lead since mid-season, continues to hold serve with a record of 126-105-8. Colin moved into second place in week 16 at 121-110-8. Reidy is two games behind Colin at 119-112-8 and Scott Stafford is catching up. He sits at 117-114-8, above .500 for the first time this year.
The contest continues through the Super Bowl, but week 17 presents the last chance for our pickers to work with a full sixteen game slate.
Here’s how the fellows see it going down in week 17.
Can you believe that we are entering into the final seventeenth of the NFL regular season? That, a week from now, there will be no Jaguars, no Rams, no San Diego Chargers. Those teams will cease to exists and only the elite ones, the ones with real championship potential, will be moving on. What an exciting time this is - a great time to be picking games against the spread as we are with the South Stands Annual NFL pickoff VS the spread.
It's been a close race between our pickers all season long .. and growing ever closer ... for some.
Sadly, John Reidy had a miserable week sixteen. The poor bearded sap went 7-8-1 which wouldn't sound all that bad had it not been a very good week for his rivals. Both Colin and Syder went 11-4-1 on the week, while Scott Stafford managed 9-6-1. It woulda been a fun weekend in Vegas for all of us except John.
Snyder continues to somehow hang onto his lead for the year at 126-105-8. Colin snaked second place at 121-110-8. Reidy is two back from Colin at 119-112-8 and Scott Stafford is two back from John at 117-114-8. Nine picks separate first place from last place ... and we are picking through the Super Bowl. This could get interesting.
It was not a terribly exciting week in the NFL. The Sunday night game between the Pats and Niners was a great one, but most of the games were pretty average. Our pickers were, too. In our Annual NFL pickoff VS the spread the fellahs all had a decent week - but not a great one.
John Reidy and our buddy Snyder were tops, each logging a 10-6 week. Colin fininshed 9-7 after picking the stupid Jets and Scott Stafford managed 8-8.
For the season Snyder continues to lead with an overall record of 115-101-7. Reidy trails Snyder by three games at 112-104-7. Colin is two games behind John and five behind Snyder at 110-106-7 and Scott Stafford sits right at .500 at 108-108-7, seven games behind the leader.
The race to the top of our Annual NFL pickoff VS the spread continues, and it's a close one! Snyder is still in the lead, but Producer Scott Stafford, John Reidy and Colin Daniels are all hot on his tail as we enter week fifteen. So how do the fellows see these games going down? Our picks after the jump.
Our Annual NFL pickoff versus the spread is heating up, even though our pickers went ice cold in week 13. Five games separate first and fourth place as Colin, Reidy, Snyder and Scott plug away with victory on their minds.
Last week our pickers were decamated by our guest, @DSNAdam. Can this weeks guest picker @OpieGoneMad fare as well? We will see.
Our picks are, as they say on the internet, after the jump.
The NFL is a fickle, fickle mistress and week 13 was certainly evidence of that. Our pickers struggled mightily versus the spread this week.
Our Buddy, Snyder, who led the contest coming in went a disastrous 5-11, but still topped John Reidy, who had been surging. Reidy managed the worst total of the season, going 3-13. Ouch. Scott Stafford, who has come back into the fold of late went 6-10 and Colin Daniels pulled together a 7-9 week, which looks decent by comparison.
Our guest picker, Adam Kinney (@DSNAdam) was the first guest of the year to win the week with a very strong 10-6 performance. So congratulations are in order.
With the NFL season entering it's fourth quarter, the standings are now: 1) Snyder 97-88-6, 2) Colin 96-89-6, Reidy 94-91-6 and Snyder 93-92-6. All pickers are within a paltry FOUR GAMES of one another, the closest it's been since the beginning.
It was a middling week for our pickers in the South Stands Annual NFL Pickoff VS the Spread. Each picker, including this weeks guest, @M1LEHIGHRAIDER, managed to select right around half of the games correctly.
Three tied for first place for the week at 8-6, Our Buddy, Synder, Producer Scott Stafford and @M1LEHIGHRAIDER. Colin went 7-7 and John Reidy managed a respectable 6-8 on the week.
For the season, Snyder still leads with a total record of 78-63-4. Colin's in second place at 73-68-4, John's in third at 71-70-4 and Scatt Stafford is creeping back into the mix with a total record of 69-70-4.
After several weeks of poor performances by guest pickers in our Annual NFL Pickoff VS the spread, this weeks guest, Brandon Spano, host of the Brandon Spano show, brought his "A" game. Spano went 9-3-1 against the spread! Amazing!
Even more amazing is that Spano didn't win the week. Our buddy, Snyder did. He went a dazzling 10-2-1! (the Niners / Seahawks game was a push).
Producer Scott Stafford came in with a respectable 7-5-1 performance and Colin Daniels and John Reidy tied with 8-4-1 efforts. All of our pickers went above .500 for the first time all season.
Colin, who enjoyed a 5-game lead coming into the week, saw his advantage all but erode.
Colin now has a 52-48-3 season score. Snyder is only one game back at 51-49-3. Reidy is 47-53-3 and, despite his solid week, Scott Stafford continues to bring up the rear at 45-55-3.
Congratulations to Brandon Spano to bringing a little pride to the guest picker role this week.
Wow. What a week in the NFL. It was full of surprises. The determined Colts beat the favored Packers, the Eagles lost (but covered) versus the Steelers and the Ravens barely held on to beat K.C. by three.
Week five was another tough week for picking games versus the spread in the NFL.
As our annual NFL pickoff versus the spread rolls along our pickers have found it tough to keep theor heads above water. Colin Daniels, John Reidy, Scott Stafford, Our Buddy Snyder and our guest pickers have all struggles to stay above .500 on the season.
.500 is exactly where Colin Daniels finds himself. After a week where he went 9-5 against the spread, he was able to pull his record up by its pink (for breast cancer awareness) boot straps.
The others did not fare so well.
Bringing up the rear was guest picker, Zach Fogg (@zachfoggsports), who one would think would have the inside track, since he works for MIle High Sports Radio. His anemic 4-10 on the week represented guest pickers poorly.
Scott Stafford and Our Buddy, Snyder each went 7-7 on the week (.500), while John Reidy went 6-8.
For the year, Colin Daniels leads with a record of 37-37-2. John Reidy and Snyder are tied at 34-40-2 and Stafford is scraping bottom at 33-41-2.
Our 2012 NFL pick-off versus the spread is in high gear. All of our pickers are within a game or two of one another as we head into week five. A solid week of picks is all it will take for one of them to rise to the top.
Mile High Sports' columnist and PM radio producer, Zach Fogg joins us as guest picker this week. Colin, John, Scott Stafford and our buddy Snyder will have their hands full with this dude.
