America is has awoken this morning to news of an unspeakable tragedy in Kansas City - the murder of a young mother and the suicide of a Chiefs player - possibly in front of the Head Coach and the General Manager.
Columnist blogger Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports recently wrote that Peyton Manning is "toast". You could give him the benefit of the doubt - and assume that he was just hungry that day - if he hadn't later written that Manning's success versus the Raiders was "fools gold".
We took the huge douche to task over his comments.
It's only fair that we give him credit for admitting that he was wrong. Our Twitter friend @720beauCBS brought it to our attention that Whitlock's recent NFL column contained the confession "I was wrong".
Additionally, he picked the Broncos to go to the AFC title game:
"Manning’s arm magically got stronger. He looks great. I don’t mind being wrong. It’ll happen again. I’d love to know how and why Manning’s arm got stronger, and that’s not a sarcastic criticism. But we went from Manning’s arm being “it is what it is” to being better than what it was.
The AFC is weak. I can see Manning and the Broncos taking advantage and winning the AFC Championship. Right now I see the Texans and Broncos in the AFC title game."
It takes a big man to admit a mistake. Or, in Whitlock's case, an enormous man.

Brandon Stokley is either a savvy veteran leader or just a grumpy old man.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Stokley put the kibosh on what would have been a pretty nifty TD celebration in the third quarter of the Sunday night game.
After Demaryius Thomas scored on the Saints defense, he handed the football to Eric Decker who positioned himself to toss an "alley-opp" pass to Demaryius so that he could "slam dunk" it over the cross bar of the goal post.
This of course, would have been punished with a 15-yard penalty for a choreographed celebration. Players aren't allowed to do that in the No-Fun-League.
Stokley, who has been around awhile, had the presence of mind to step in and put a stop to the frivolity.
Thomas and Decker were pretty ticked off at the old man when they got back to the sideline. But Stokley is willing to sacrifice popularity for professionalism.
He told Mike Klis "It’s tough being a dad sometimes, you know?" "These kids, nowadays. You’ve got to put them in timeout."
Don't look now, but the San Diego Chargers may be about to so something that those of us residing in Broncos Country do not want to see happen. They might be thinking about firing Norv Turner.
There's a groundswell in SD and it's not an another earth-quake.
Chargers fans (there are a few) are angry. Their team just went into Cleveland and get beaten 7-6 after surrendering a 24-point advantage to the Broncos two weeks before.
The Chargers manage to somehow fumble away their best players and their best opportunities with a consistancy we have come to count on. Without Norv Turner in San Diego, who knows what might happen?
It's up to us to save him now, Broncos fans. The powder blue people can't be counted on to keep Norv Turner around. We need the ownership of the Chargers to know that there is fan support for giving him another chance.
That's why we at the South Stands are promoting the #KeepNorv hashtag movement. We're just doing our part. Join us, won't you?
Look out, AFC.
The Broncos are not screwing around.
Peyton Manning is clearly locked in - and what looked even a week ago to be a Broncos team that would be happy with a Wild Card spot is now a juggernaut.
At 4-3 the Broncos have a lock on thier division. And, with one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL, they have a shot at the whole enchilada.
Yeah, I am talking Super Bowl.
Is there anyone in the AFC that can stop Denver if they have a real defense - a secondary - guys that can shut down Drew Brees !
Holy crap! The Broncos are for real.
I want another crack at the Pats. Well, that's coming. Meanwhile, bring on the Bengals. And consider them mince meat.
The worst of their schedule is behind them. The Broncos are poised to go on a tear now and I can't wait!
Peyton Manning was far and away the best answer for this team and John Elway deserves a ton of credit for seeing that and stopping at nothing to make it happen.
His best is yet to come.
The Browns took down the Chargers in their early game, so the outcome of Broncos / Saints is slightly less significant for Denver. Will the Broncos take advantage of the chance to pull away in the division - or will they let the desperate Saints come in and get a win?
Here's how I see this one going down.
He's here - and he's winning football games. But Peyton Manning's got a long way to go - and that's bad news for the rest of the AFC.
Where there's smoke there's fire - or so they say.
Mile High Sports reported earlier today that CB Tracy Porter was on the outs with the Broncos organization - that folks were displeased with his attitude and that the Broncos may be looking to move the former Saint.
Within about a half hour Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported that Porter was scratched from the San Diego game and remains day-to-day not because of his attitude, but because Porter had been suffering from "pre-seizure" conditions. Klis reported that Porter had been wrestling with seizure related issues since August. Others raised the possibility that these seizures could possibly relate to the altitude in Denver - which would explain why they never came up in N.O..
I find it odd that there had been no mention of the seizure issue prior to Mile High Sports' earlier report. The public (and the NFL)had been told that he had an "illness" and nothing more.
Once MHS's "source" gave them the attitude story, however, it seems as though the team scrambled the PR machine - got hold of the Post and got the seizure story out there as fast as possible.
Now Mile High Sports is also acknowledging the seizure story - but not denying that the reports about Porter being a bad egg remain true.
Reading between the lines, I believe MHS' original report. The way everything went down today, it's tough not to smell spin control.
Porter was not too happy about the MHS report, either. He Tweeted this about an hour ago:
And for the "genius" reporting I'm going to get traded/released bc of an "attitude", that's why u don't work for ESPN. Get your facts str8
When the Broncos made the trip to San Diego, Tracy Porter didn't. The cornerback stayed behind due to an unspecified "illness".
A Broncos bye week has passed since. It's been two weeks - and still Porter is "day to day" with an "illness".
You gotta think there's more to this than meets the eye. The Broncos are fixing to face down Porter's former team in the New Orleans Saints. Rather than getting fired up to show those guys what they're missing having let him get away, Tracy Porter continues not to practice.
The Saints have one thing going for them. They pass the hell out of the ball. The Broncos need all hands on deck in the secondary. They didn't miss Porter much against the Chargers, but they're better off with him than without him.
What's Tracy Porter's deal? Too much Dyme Life?
UPDATE! MILE HIGH SPORTS IS REPORTING THAT PORTER IS NOT SICK, BUT THAT THE BRONCOS ARE SICK - OF HIS CRAP. PORTER IS BELIEVED TO BE EXHIBITING A POOR ATTITUDE AND LIKELY TO BE ON THE TRADING BLOCK. THANKS TO @AKRUSH18 FOR THE HEADS UP ON THE MHS STORY.

In order to "control how it's used and to make sure it's used the right way", Tim Tebow, Incorporated has trademarked the created in the backup QBs honor.
Tebowing is now Tebowing™.
Naturally, Tebow asserts that, if Tebowing™ is ever utilized for profit that all earnings will be donated to the Tim Tebow Foundation.
Regardless, it's reasonable to point out that the meme its self, and the name "Tebowing" were the brain children of people other than Tim Tebow. The whole thing is believed to have begun at a Broncos fan bar in New York. Two fans who applied for a trademark on Tebowing backed off, allowing Timmy to take this one to the house uncontested.
