Maybe if you were actually earning the Nuggets biggest paycheck you could pick your own nickname. As long as you’re inconsistent and putting up one-point stinkers like you did the other night then the fans can call you whatever they want. “Iggy” is really not that bad when you think about it. Could be worse.
We were warned that you didn’t like being called “Iggy” when the Nuggets traded for you. The Philadelphia fans told us. At the time we were willing to show deference and not refer to you as “Iggy”. We even discussed alternative nicknames that we could use. I liked “Dollah”.
That horse has left the barn, though, pal. Now even the Altitude broadcast crew calls you “Iggy” on a regular basis. The NBA is all about fun nicknames so it’s not difficult to understand the tendency of fans to want to call you something besides “Andre Iguodala.
You’re stuck with “Iggy” and there’s really nothing you can do about it. We promise, though, that, if the Nuggets trade you, we will warn the folks in the next city that you don’t like it. Maybe you’ll have better luck there.
