As the "Bounty Gate" scandal appears to finally be wrapping up, new evidence has surfaced that our beloved number eighteen was a Saints target, too.
Peyton's Colts faced (and ultimately lost to) the Saints in the 2010 Super Bowl. It was on the way to that Championship that New Orleans allegedly instructed players to decapitate QBs including Brett Favre, Kurt Warner and Peyton Manning.
Uncovered in the Bounty Gate scandal were Power Point slides prepared by Saints coaches illustrating their intent to "cut off the heads" of opposing signal callers. According to Pro Football Talk one such slide included the verbage: "SO WE WILL JUST DESTROY EACH QUARTERBACK LEAVING EACH TEAM WITHOUT A FIELD GENERAL! ONE DOWN TWO QB’S TO GO!"
One of the "two to go" the slide refers to was Manning.
Another slide included the caption "‘BOO F***ING HOO MISSION ACCOMPLISHED VS. WARNER AND FAVRE’ ONE MORE QB TO GO!!!!‘”
Luckily, the Saints didn't injur Manning in that Super Bowl game. Manning did, however, miss the following season with a severe neck injury.
