The Denver Broncos benefited from some bad officiating on Sunday. Trindon Holliday's 76-yard punt return for a touchdown wasn't a touchdown at all. His show-boating should have cost the Broncos 7 points. Luckily it didn't.
Holliday flipped the football in a celebratory way too soon. He hadn't crossed the goal line. The play should have resulted in a fumble into the end zone, a touchback and a Carolina possession at their twenty. The officiating crew should have reviewed the play. Luckily they didn't.
Had Holliday's fumble been detected it's doubtful that the outcome of the game would have changed in terms of who lost and who won, but it certainly could have helped shift momentum.
