The Rockies will have to finish this season without Todd Helton. He has decided to pack it in for the remainder of 2012. The legendary 1st baseman has opted to have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.

Rockies fans hope that his pain will be more manageable afterward and that he can return in 2013 in a utility role similar to that of Jason Giambi.

Helton's decision will insure that he can turn his attention away from baseball and focus on Manning and the Broncos like everyone else in town.
