Bloggers and Sports Media members rejoice!
The goofy son of former WNBA star, Pamela McGee will be a Denver Nugget - at least until the team somehow relieves it's self of his contract in a few years - or he develops into the player they hope he will be and decides he wants to play in Brooklyn and forces a trade.
JaVale McGee, easily the NBA's most bumbling player. He came from one the leagues worst teams (the Wizards), but has shown enough promise that the Nuggets felt it prudent to pay him big money (11 million per season for the next four) before some mystery team (like the Blazers or the Pacers) stole him away. They felt as if demand for the services of the 7-foot tall muppet was quite high.
They need a center now that Nene's gone - and JaVale will be that center for the forseeable future.
His contract is generally percieved as good news for the home team.
His signing is unanimously considered a "win" for the local Sports Entertainment community. McGee is, shall we say, mistake prone. His foibles will make for brilliant snark fodder. He's also an avid Twitter user, which is a bonus. You never know what JaVale might say.
He Tweeted this evening:
Just signed with Denver, could not be happier! Thank you to the Kroenke family and the fans for their support.
So humbled right now! #blessedbeyondbelief
Moms was crying! So much respect for her she been thru the struggle all 24 of my life and hers! God is good
Next time your in Vegas, take the "over" on Nuggets goaltending penalties next season.
