The snarky National Sports Blog that started it all, the one and only Deadspin, in an article titled "Here’s The Absolute Worst Draft Analysis Written Today" about the draft analysis written by none other than the Denver Post's own Mark Kiszla.
Kiszla expressed his disappointment with the Nuggets selections in a column that ran in Friday's Post in which Kiszla referred to them as an "International disaster". He basically makes the case that the Nuggets blew the draft by selecting European players. "Would the last real basketball player from Europe please turn out the gym lights?", Kiszla said.
Deadspin writer Barry Petcheski took Kiszla to task for calling the Nuggets' draft "a slap in the face to made-in-America basketball.":
"Talk to someone who's scouted him, ask how you think he'll handle the transition to the highest level. Anything beyond repeatedly citing his birth certificate. Kiszla's column is lazy and reactionary at best, xenophobic at worst, and should not be relied upon in any circumstance for Nuggets fans wanting to actually learn more about their team."
Pretty harsh.
At least Deadspin didn't accuse him of plagiarism, right, Mike Evans?
