You're right. Saw the tweets and the pictures and just assumed. Sorry.” Is it cold in here? Because I think hell just froze over.

The “Adult’s Table” just got a little bit lonelier.

We recently tried to talk some sense into Denver radio host Les Shapiro when he took his frustrations out on SouthStandsDenver.com after some interesting things were said about him (not by us) on our award winning podcast. But he wasn’t having any of it.

But after he tried to sass talk a member of the Denver Broncos, Les got a one way ticket from his famed “Adult’s Table” to a seat in the naughty corner.

Shapiro took aim at Broncos running back Willis McGahee, and paid the price. McGahee, who was recently in Las Vegas according to his Twitter account (@WillisMcGahee), was suspiciously absent from the OTA at Dove Valley. Shapiro needed to know why.

Hey, at Broncos OTA. Where are you? I know Vegas is fun, but still..” Shapiro said via his own Twitter handle: @LesShapiro. It seemed innocent enough, but McGahee wasn’t amused. And why should he be? And this is where it got interesting.

McGahee responded to Shapiro with a terse, “I’m not in Vegas.” Les, being a wily vet of the Denver sports landscape, realized that his cavalier attitude toward his peers and lowly podcasters wasn’t going to fly with a pro athlete and he quickly doubled back: “Where are you? Everybody's wondering.” Well Les, everybody may have been wondering but they weren’t about to give him the business like an old college buddy without knowing all the facts.

McGahee explained how he was at a function for his daughter and how she was his number one priority, not Les Shapiro. Les, realizing he just stepped in a gigantic pile of poo he couldn’t extricate himself from, acquiesced immediately: “You're right. Saw the tweets and the pictures and just assumed. Sorry.” Is it cold in here? Because I think hell just froze over.

But McGahee wasn’t finished with Shapiro. “Ask the question next time instead of assuming,” he said. Oooooooooh Snap! I guess Les misjudged his imagined chummy relationships with Denver’s pro athletes about as much as he misjudged McGahee’s true location.

This was pure comedy for several reasons: Shapiro thought he could playfully taunt a high profile member of the Broncos and got burned for it. Also, seeing him dressed down was poetic justice for someone who likes to throw his weight around with people he deems beneath him. I think the first tweet was meant to be a playful jab, but as I’m sure McGahee was wondering, why was Shapiro going there at all? Les, like most people with large egos get too familiar with the famous people they cover and was taught a very painful and public lesson. Much to all of our delight. Would I love to be there when Shapiro sheepishly ambles up to McGahee for the first time at Dove Valley and offers an in-person apology? Hell yeah. Just save me a seat at the kid’s table.

John Reidy

I never really liked sports until I had a religious conversion when the Broncos lost to the 49ers in that one Super Bowl. Now I'm obsessed with all aspects of the Denver pro sports world. Oh yeah, I hate college football. It's crap. Talk to me on twitter @johnreidydenver

Colin and John, you're trying to rebuild the bridge you burned with Les Shapiro. That way, you can have him on your show.

But now, he's fucking up the process by talking shit about your podcast show.

You're trying to rebuild, and he's fucking turning the process into rubble shit.

What a fucking clown. You have to wonder how this guy is still around. I can think of a number of hosts that would do a much better job in his spot. Kreckman and Cecil are the only people worth breathing at that station. Nobody seems to like the guy in the media either. He's been smashed on your podcast by DMac and I believe Spano did it as well. I'm sure there's plenty more that hate him, but just have more self control than those two. Lol.
